Is my data secure

Security of the data and database.

The system is hosted on a Rackspace server. Their privacy policy states that they "do not monitor, view or disclose the specific data stored using its service". All of the passwords used are extremely strong and all booking data is collected over a secure SSL connection to prevent 'snooping'.

Data integrity and backups.

The server has a complete image backup taken daily. These backups can be used to restore the server in the event of total disaster. As well as disk image backups, daily and weekly database export backups are taken, encrypted with a strong password, and stored on a separate web server which also has a good privacy policy and is very secure. The databases are not stored anywhere offline (on development computers, CDs, external harddrives, USB sticks, etc) so data cannot be physically stolen.

System stability.

The system has been developed using the Ruby on Rails framework. The framework is very mature and has a lot of built in security related features. All efforts have been made during development to address all potential security threats. The site runs on a Linux operating system which inherently adds to the site's stability. System monitors are in place to check that the site is running 24h a day. In the event of a problem, tech support are immediately notified via email and text message (SMS) so they can endeavour to fix whatever it is as soon as possible.

Your personal data.

The system allows your booking data to be exported via CSV. All of your collected information is contained in the CSV. As a 'software as a service' product, you should trust that the service and backups are maintained well and in the event of things going wrong, the service should be restored as quickly as possible, therefore personal backups are not required.
